This wedding culminated an amazing week spent with an amazing group in Mexico. Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun is a majestic resort destination and is one of my top favourites! It felt like the best venue for this outdoor-loving couple.

Every momentous occasion in their relationship happened around nature. Mike proposed on top of Grotto Mountain in Canmore, while Kelli took him hiking in Snyder’s Flats in Bloomingdale for their first date. I know this is just the start of their married life, but with the beach as the background, it looked like a fairytale ending to their feel-good love story worthy of a full feature film.

They are one of the most down-to-earth and sweetest couples. If there was a name for the opposite of a bridezilla, Kelli would fit the role. Completely unbothered by any little stress that’s common at weddings, she smiled through it all.

Who could mind tiny mishaps when the weather was perfectly balmy? It was sunny with just the right amount of seaside breeze. Though grey clouds started to show after the ceremony and threatened a very last-minute change of reception since theirs was held outdoors, this couple had pure luck! Right above us we could hear the loud rumbles rolling in, but not a single drop of rain.

We ended up with the perfect orange sunset and they had their first dance while the sky changed colours in the background. I don’t think I will ever get to photograph another first dance under the most vibrant sunset again.

Two weeks after the wedding, these newlyweds went off to their new adventure. They moved from Ontario to British Colombia with their fur babies. Thank you both again for having me there to celebrate and photograph your beautiful wedding!
