A few months prior to the wedding, we were at Brantview Apples & Cider farms to shoot Holly and Curt’s engagement photos. They had a preppy and colorful picnic setup prepared for the session to match the green foliage all around the place. Even then, I knew it complemented this couple’s style.
They had a vibe of old school elegance to them. Holly always joked that she grew up in the wrong decade, and I totally agree! I wasn’t surprised to see all the vintage florals and elements perfectly coordinated to the rustic and homely mood of the place.
My favourite wedding favour ever was at this wedding, and as you know, I’ve seen many. It was cider cans with photos from their engagement session on them. What a uniquely original idea! And quite symbolic too, since this couple likes to bond over beer. (Their perfect date night is either visiting a brewery after a day hike or having dinner with a cold bottle.)
That’s not the only extraordinary thing about this wedding. Holly is quite the DIY-er. A lot of details from the ceremony to the reception were her ideas and creations. She also made her headpiece, which completed her look. It’s definitely something unique to her that you wouldn’t see on any other bride.
They got married on a hot summer day, so naturally we had beautiful lighting throughout. White clouds almost faded into the powder blue sky, which fit the old-fashioned pastoral scenery. It felt like we were transported to a different era altogether.
The sunset at Brantview was also unlike any other place. I was able to sneak them away for a couple of photos where the sun glowed as red as the apples on the trees. Definitely an unforgettable scene!
I’ve known Holly since I photographed her brother’s wedding many years ago. I’ve actually been photographing her family for almost a decade, so I was over the moon with excitement when she asked me to be her wedding photographer.
This wedding stands out to me for all its quirks and specific elements. And I know you both will have so many happy years together! Congratulations once again!
